Rifampin

Drug

Rifampin is a rifamycin-class antibacterial used primarily in tuberculosis treatment and meningococcal carrier eradication. It is a semisynthetic rifamycin derivative whose antimicrobial activity includes inhibition of mycobacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. U.S. brand Rifadin capsules were initially approved in 1971.
